Who knew that electronics could be sew fun?! I've been diving into it, initially attracted by the conductive thread that you can make circuits with, but then drawn to soldering which turned out to be way easier than I thought (and much more reliable). So I tossed the needle and thread aside and soldered my heart out this past weekend. My main focus has been an LED skirt that I am debuting for a new burlesque act at Illuminopolis. You can check out a crappy video of the skirt here:

To see the REAL thing, in all its glory, and the tons of other bits and pieces that light up for this act, come to Illuminopolis!! Tix are still available but I don't know for how long...

**************************** Tilted Torch: Illuminopolis
As darkness descends on the city, the natural light fades and the unusual lights start to glow. Lights appear in extraordinary places and in an abundance of color. These lights move, flow, and float through space. Welcome to Illuminopolis. During this radiant evening, we will explore light in many of its forms: visible (LED and incandescent); ultraviolet (blacklight); and the most primal form of light, fire. Illuminopolis is a light-themed variety show, showcasing performers from the Baltimore-Washington area. From fire performance to burlesque to outstanding circus acts, the area's best talent with a penchant for reaching over the top in costuming and dramatization will gather to present a spectacle unlike any other. Utilizing glowing costuming and fiery props, the performers will whisk the audience away to a glimmering city where they can leave their worries behind.
The world premiere of Tilted Torch's Illuminopolis at the Creative Alliance introduces this unique variety show to Baltimore. The show runs for one night only--Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 8:00 pm--and features aerial work by MOIRA LEE; belly dance with fire sword by AMY LAPERLE; flood light poi and contact juggling in a bubble by LAURA ERNST; singing and sideshow by the conjoined DARWIN SISTERS; burlesque by LILY STARK WHITE; acrobatic partner balancing by THE WORLD FAMOUS POP TARTS; fire eating, fire poi, and fire staff performances by MALIBU; and blacklight flags, fire hoop, and burlesque by MISS JOULE. Host and MC for the evening, SHORTSTAXX will guide the audience through this world of wonder and revelry.
Become a citizen of Illuminopolis! Don your own glowy wares this evening!
